Alyssa Ranieri
(she/her)
Education: MSW, RSW
Background: Alyssa has over 12 years of experience working in a variety of settings in the non-profit sector and health care, as well as teaching post-secondary students and her own private practice. Her extensive background has focused on working with people who use drugs and alcohol, people living with mental health challenges, houseless or underhoused populations and folks who are economically disadvantaged. Her education and interests are deeply rooted in trauma-informed care and anti-oppressive practices.
Specialty: Alyssa specializes in a wide range of areas. She is especially skilled at supporting folks with life transitions, anxiety, depression, challenges in their relationships (platonic and romantic) and making changes to their drug and/or alcohol use. Her work supports folks who are navigating the effects of trauma and systemic oppression, providing them with insight and skills to manage their experiences.
Approach: Alyssa draws on a range of modalities tailored to each client’s unique needs, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical-behaviour therapy, ecotherapy, mindfulness techniques, and strengths-based approaches. She incorporates skills for effective communication and relationship-building to support clients in expressing their needs and navigating complex interpersonal dynamics. Her trauma-informed and anti-oppressive framework ensures that all interventions are sensitive to the impacts of trauma and mindful of systemic inequalities.
Perspective: Alyssa believes in a collaborative and client-centered approach to therapy, where the client’s experiences and insights are central to the therapeutic process. Her perspective is grounded in the understanding that meaningful change is supported through a respectful and empathetic relationship, where clients are empowered to explore and integrate new ways of thinking and being. She is committed to creating a safe and supportive environment that acknowledges and honours each individual’s unique background and experiences.
